KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.17 g, 5 h), Amphipolis, circa 294-293 BC. Nike, blowing a trumpet and holding a stylis, alighting to left on a left-facing prow. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ΔHMHTΡIOΥ Poseidon, nude but for wreath of reeds and a chlamys draped over his left arm, striding left, hurling trident from his upraised right hand; to left, tripod; to right, Z above monogram of ME. CNG 106 (2017), 220 (same dies). Newell 94 (dies LXXXV/-). SNG Copenhagen -. SNG München -. An excellent, lightly toned example. Very minor traces of overstriking, otherwise, good extremely fine.
